Bio

Valerio (JD, BA, PhD, MSc) is Founder and Executive Chairman of the “International Academy for Social and Economic Development” (AISES), Founder and Executive Director of the “Global Sustainability Forum”; Secretary General at “Diplomatia”; Vice President of “Universal Trust S.r.l.”.

He is Director of the International Relations Department at the Luigi Einaudi Foundation. He is Visiting Professor at the “Center for Sustainability Leadership” and member of Academic Scientific Committee, Strathmore Business School, Nairobi.

Director of “Global Security and Foreign Affairs Program”, Center for American Studies with AISES. He is also Co-director of “Sustainable Finance and Market Regulation Project” at La Sapienza University of Rome, and Co-director of “Profit-Non-Profit Partnership for Sustainable Development Project” at the Tor Vergata University of Rome.

He is President of the Advisory Board of “Diomira Foundation”, Nairobi; member of the Scientific Committee of “Fondazione Roma Sapienza” – Cooperazione Internazionale and of “Fondazione Bruno Visentini”.

Valerio was Faculty Research Fellow of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School. He was also lecturer at University of Rome Tor Vergata, University LUISS Guido Carli, Pontifical Lateran University (Vatican City) and the Pontificio Ateneo Regina Apostolorum.

Valerio holds a Laurea degree magna cum laude in Law (J.D.), Laurea degree in Political Sciences (BA) from University of Rome La Sapienza, and a Laurea degree magna cum laude in Economics (BA) from University of Rome Nicolò Cusano. PhD in Competition Law from the University of Perugia and obtained a Master degree magna cum laude (MA) from University of Rome La Sapienza. He completed his legal and economic studies at Harvard University, UCLA and University of California, at Berkeley.

In 2001 Valerio was admitted in the trainee program at the DG Competition of the European Commission in Brussels.

From 1999 he is a Lawyer and he was Legal Consultant of firms and listed companies, such as RCS Media Group, where in 2003 he contributed to the creation of the ethical code and the corporate reorganisation.

From 2006 to 2012 he worked at CONSOB, the Italian Financial Commission, as special adviser to the Chief of Issuer Division. Between 2008 and 2010, he participated in the Commission to the International Meetings and Group Studies regarding the Financial Crisis and International Regulation, as a Visiting Fellow at the Law and Financial Market Project, London School of Economics.

The 10th of March of 2018, Prof. De Luca has been appointed as Pro-Chancellor by the University of Kigali Board of Promoters.

He also gave presentations at various international conferences and published books and articles.
